Second Annual Columbus Fire Charity Soccer Game is Saturday at Crew Stadium

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Crew General Manager Mark McCullers announced today that the Second Annual Columbus Fire Charity Soccer game will be this Saturday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Crew Stadium.

A special $15 ticket is being offered for this game, which also includes a ticket to The Crew game vs. Chivas USA game at 7:30 p.m. later that night. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Brian O'Rourke at the Columbus Crew at 614-447-4153 (borourke@thecrew.com) or JD Pitzer at 614-206-6200 (jdpitzer@aol.com). Additional donations are welcomed.

The Columbus Fire Department will be taking on the San Antonio Fire Department, with the proceeds from the special ticket offer going to Anderson's Army, a non-profit organization that raises money for Melanoma, and the Gulfport, Miss., Fire Department.

Anderson's Army (Andersonsarmy.org) is named after Brian Anderson, a Firefighter/Paramedic from Jackson Twsp., who lost his fight with Melanoma at the age of 35. The money raised goes to his wife and two boys to help them get through school and also helps fund Melanoma Research. The money earmarked for the Gulfport, Miss., Fire Department will help buy uniforms, supplies, water and fuel, among other items.

"This is fantastic opportunity to partner with Columbus' finest and help with this great charity, as well as support the Katrina Relief Fund," said McCullers. "We are delighted to help these great causes."

The Crew hosts Chivas USA at Crew Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the final regular season home game of the year. Saturday's game also marks the first time that expansion team Chivas USA will visit The Crew in Columbus.

Tickets for Crew home games can be acquired at the Crew Stadium Box Office, at any area Ticketmaster outlet, via phone at 614-431-3600 or on line at TheCrew.com.
