Report: FC Cincinnati to sign Costa Rican international Allan Cruz

Allan Cruz - CS Herediano

Update (Jan. 17): Paul Tenorio has updated his report, saying Allan Cruz will not wait until after Herediano exits the CCL to join FC Cincinnati but will instead join for the expansion team's preseason.

Original report:

After being linked to five unnamed MLS sides in November, it looks like the future of Costa Rica international central midfielder Allan Cruz will soon be settled.

According to The Athletic's Paul Tenorio, FC Cincinnati are set to sign the "Tico Kante" once Herediano's Concacaf Champions League run ends. Herediano face Atlanta United in the Round of 16, with the first leg being played on February 21.

Cruz, who will turn 23 ahead of the 2019 MLS season, has made 76 appearances for Herediano after joining in 2017, helping the club qualify for the 2019 CCL. He has made six appearances for the Costa Rican national team.

FC Cincy boast a deep depth chart at his position, having already acquired the likes of Fatai Alashe, Victor Ulloa, Leonardo Bertone and Eric Alexander
