Report: Columbus Crew SC to sign Indiana's Aidan Morris as Homegrown Player

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report

After breaking a club-record transfer fee to land attacking midfielder Lucas Zelarayan as a Designated Player, Columbus Crew SC have signed Aidan Morris to a Homegrown Player deal, according to Ives Galarcep of SBI Soccer.

Morris recently completed his freshman season at Indiana University, and was named a Third Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches organization and as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. The midfielder had two goals and eight assists in 22 games (21 starts), all while the Hoosiers won the Big Ten championship before falling in the NCAA tournament’s third round to UC Santa Barbara.

A US youth international, Morris has frequently trained with the Crew’s first team and was a standout player for their U-19 Development Academy side.

Morris would be the third Homegrown Player on Columbus’ roster, joining defender Aboubacar Keita and midfielder Wil Trapp. The Crew are set to begin their 2020 season March 1 at home against fellow Eastern Conference foe New York City FC.
