Red Bulls striker Bradley Wright-Phillips named Alcatel Player of the Week

Bradley Wright-Phillips — New York Red Bulls — Player of the Week, Week 4 2018

After scoring two beautiful goals this past weekend, Bradley Wright-Phillips added another accolade to his overflowing resume.

On Tuesday, the New York Red Bulls striker was named the Alcatel MLS Player of the Week for Week 4 of the 2018 season, as voted on by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).

In the Red Bulls’ 3-0 rout of Minnesota United FC on Saturday, Wright-Phillips scored the team’s second goal with an acrobatic play in the 42nd minute, beating goalkeeper Matt Lampson to the ball with a right-footed flick after Tim Parker deflected a free kick toward goal.

He completed his brace in the 78th minute with a clever chip over Lampson following a perfectly placed pass from Alex Muyl.

It was the 19th multi-goal game for Wright-Phillips, who now has 89 goals in his MLS career, ranking 11th all-time. He’s scored more goals over a five-year span than any player in MLS history.

Wright-Phillips and the Red Bulls (2-1-0) will look to keep rolling this Saturday when they face Orlando City SC on the road (1 pm ET; UniMás, Twitter — full TV & streaming info).

The Alcatel MLS Player of the Week is chosen each week of the regular season by members of the North American Soccer Reporters. The organization includes print, television, radio and online journalists who cover domestic men's soccer in the United States and Canada.
