Real Salt Lake's Rusnak, Savarino called up for international duty

Jefferson Savarino - Real Salt Lake - Celebrates Goal

Two Real Salt Lake players will be headed out on international duty for the upcoming FIFA international window in September.

Midfielder Albert Rusnak was called up by Slovakia for two games, a friendly against Denmark in Slovakia on September 5, followed by a UEFA Nations League match against Ukraine on the road on September 9. The Nations League games are the first of the new competition, meant to offer competitive international games away from tournament play and qualifying for those tournaments.

Meanwhile, winger Jefferson Savarino has been called up by the Venezuelan national team for two friendlies against Colombia in Miami on September 7 and against Panama in Panama on September 11.

“Albert and Jefferson have been instrumental in our success over the last two seasons and for them to continue to get recognition on the international stage is a testament to their hard work and commitment,” RSL general manager Craig Waibel said in a team statement.  “We are excited for their opportunities to represent their countries.  This is a great chance for them to continue to gain valuable experience and should be a good for their confidence as we enter the final stretch of the season.”

RSL are next in action on Saturday, at home against the LA Galaxy (10 pm ET | TV & Streaming Info).
