Radio America returns for twelfth season as Spanish-language radio partner

WASHINGTON, D.C. - D.C. United announced today Radio America (WACA 1540 AM), the club's official Spanish-language radio partner, agreed to a 2-year extended partnership, marking the 2008 season as the twelfth year the station will carry United matches. As part of the agreement, all United first team games will be broadcast live on Radio America and on the United Spanish Radio Network (Radio Continental 1390 AM, WLXE 1600 AM and 1350 AM) in the D.C. area.


    "Radio America has long been an important part of D.C. United," said United Executive Vice President Stephen Zack.  "We are proud of this relationship and look forward to two more seasons of great moments broadcast by Radio America and the D.C. United Spanish radio network."</p>


Carlos Osorio returns for the 2008 season after joining the Radio America team two years ago from El Salvador's YSKL radio station, where he spent 25 years as host and commentator of the popular "Gol de KL" soccer program. Recognized with numerous awards as one of the top sports broadcasters in El Salvador, Osorio is better known to listeners as "Escopeta" (Rifle) for his booming voice and his ability to quickly narrate the action on the field. Osorio began his broadcast career in 1963 and since has broadcast nine World Cup finals (1970-2002) and the 1968 Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City.


         Joining Osorio in the booth will be radio personality Danilo Noel Dir&#xF3;n, who enters his 12th season providing color commentary on United's Spanish-language broadcasts.  Diron, a native of Uruguay who hosts "La Mesa Redonda del F&#xFA;tbol"(Soccer Round Table), a daily soccer-only show that airs on Radio America, has called over 420 D.C. United games over his career. Wilson Romero, a panelist on La Mesa Redonda del F&#xFA;tbol, will be the sideline reporter.  </p>

. Season tickets and partial plans offer several plan-holder benefits such as a ticket exchange program, discounted youth pricing, priority to other soccer events and direct access to D.C. United's Customer Service Department. Individual tickets for all regular season games, except the June 29 game versus Los Angeles, will go on public sale on Monday, March 3rd. Currently, the only way to obtain tickets to United's game with the Galaxy is through United full season ticket packages.
