Mikaël Silvestre faces a long, arduous road back from a severe knee injury, but at least now he has a clearer idea of its length.

The Portland Timbers defender has undergone successful surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee, an injury sustained during Portland’s 0-0 home draw with New England on May 2, the club announced on Thursday.

The 35-year-old Frenchman's recovery time is projected at six to nine months.

Silvestre started eight of the Timbers' first nine matches in his first season with the club, logging 688 minutes and helping PTFC record three shutouts.
