Russia away kit for 2014 World Cup

Almost as exciting as the World Cup itself are the months leading up to the tournament and the leaking, speculating, unveiling and dissecting of 32 nations' brand new home and away kits that come along with it.

Since this rumored leaked kit is all we have regarding the US national team's World Cup kit situation, let's take a little time to pick apart a handful of other national team's recently released kits.

Adidas unveiled on Thursday the away kits for four national teams expected to make deep runs in the World Cup — Germany, Argentina, Spain and Russia.

4. Spain

Sure, they're the defending World Cup and two-time European champions, but the electric green is baffling for Spain, whose national colors are red and yellow. The only way to make these Spanish kits memorable — in a good way — will be if La Furia Roja are pictured lifting a second World Cup trophy in them.

More from adidas, explaining the use of black and green, can be found here.

3. Germany

Germany and Argentina are largely interchangable here at Nos. 2 and 3, and in this event, tiebreaker goes to the one that uses blue, which is the vastly superior color. The black-and-red away strikes a good contrast to the chevron-centered German home kit, unveiled in November, but at least the abomitable green kit is apparently gone.

2. Argentina

Argentina are consistently one of the best outfitted national teams, and their World Cup home kit, also unveiled in November, will be no different. The small touches of gold throughout the away kit, made up of two darker shades of blue, ooze class and make the gold AFA crest more uniform.

1. Russia

Contrast, finally! The Russian home kit is equally stunning as the above away, which makes us wonder, "How come Russia gets everything nice these days?" First it was the Olympics, then the 2018 World Cup, and now two of adidas' best World Cup kits.

To find out how Russia's space exploration ties into the new away kit, allow adidas to explain.

What do you think of the four kits above, and how do they stack up next to the rumored USMNT kits? What do you hope to see from the real USMNT World Cup kits?
