Philly's Phang is MLS' newest mascot: Meet them all


The MLS mascot guild welcomed a new member Monday when the Philadelphia Union introduced Phang to the world. Here's a quick reminder of the kinship Phang joins.

Chicago Fire: Sparky

Sparky is a unique Dalmatian who has soccer ball spots and has been cheering on the Fire since 1998.

Columbus Crew: S.C.

S.C. is the son of former Crew mascot Crew Cat and was once called up to the United States Cat National Team by coach Pürrgen Klinsmann.

D.C. United: Talon

Talon's wingspan is 6'6" has a size 22 shoe.  Talon also shares a name with Landon Donovan's son.

Houston Dynamo: Dynamo Diesel

Cozmo may not be allowed to play in MLS, but was offered a Millennium contract to be the Galaxy's mascot. Win-win deal.

PK is a curious Loon who hasn't let the club know what "PK" stands for!

Slyde boasts of his trash-talking ability with the other mascots and is a big fan of Michael J. Fox.

Orlando City SC: Kingston

A towering figure, Kingston is 6'3" (6'7" with the dreads) and loves to roam central Florida. Unsurprisingly, Kingston's favorite color is purple, just like his beloved OCSC. His idols are Bob Marley, Kaka and Ali Krieger, in no particular order.

Philadelphia Union: Phang

The newest mascot! Phang, introduced to the soccer community Monday, is a snake who loves soccer, but couldn't play on account of being unable to kick. With inspiration from Ben Franklin, Phang conducted an experiment the next time it stormed and he came out on the other side with arms, legs and a mohawk! 

Portland Timbers: Timber Joey

The most human of all the mascots, Timber Joey is a true outdoorsman who is in charge of taking his chainsaw to lumber whenever his side scores a goal. He also once big-timed Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer for questioning his background as a lumberman: "Sorry. I had to look up who Brian Schmetzer was..."

Real Salt Lake: Leo

Leo, a royal lion, is very comfortable in the classroom, on the soccer field as well as the wild.

San Jose Earthquakes: Q

Quakesadus Mascotacus, nicknamed Q, has been no stranger to controversy. One time, Q clotheslined a pitch invader and another time got into a dustup with David Beckham

Sporting Kansas City: Blue

SKC's mascot is Blue, who shows up to support the team and cheer them on!

Vancouver Whitecaps: Spike

Spike is light as a feather, loves some fish tacos, the Whitecaps and the song "Shake it Like Your Tail Feather".
