NYCFC's first homegrown player - James Sands - has had a breakout season for his hometown club.

Unfortunately for the 19-year-old defender, he was forced out of Saturday night's 4-1 win over Cincinnati after nine minutes when he suffered a broken collarbone, according to the team's play-by-play analyst, Glenn Crooks. Sands was injured in the fifth minute after he and Cincinnati's Mathieu Deplagne collided.

Sands has started 18 matches in this, his third season but his first as a first-team regular. As Crooks noted, the youngster also missed four matches after sustaining a broken arm on June 6, also versus Cincinnati

It is unknown how long Sands will be out with this injury, but his absence may have an affect on head coach Dome Torrent, if not the full team.
