You spoke, tweeted, and votes, and the results are in! The #MLSSoshies, our annual, very serious, fan-voted social media awards, returned this year to take a look at the year in everyone's Twitter and Instagram game. On this site, we asked for your pick of the overall "Most Social Player" – an honor landed last year by Shkelzen Gashi, and before that, Dom Dwyer. On Twitter, we asked you to vote in three subcategories: "MLS Pets," "BFFs," and "Family Matters."
So who took home the honors for the 2017 season? Drumroll please…
Most Social Player: Nemanja Nikolic, the Chicago Fire
This year's Golden Boot winner and breakout star for the Fire swept the overall "Most Social Player" poll, with 58.82 percent of the overall vote. Both Fire fans and those back in Hungary came through big-time for Nikolic! Here's a look back at some of his best posts over the 2017 season…
MLS Pets: Josef Martinez, Atlanta United
Atlanta United's Martinez won this one thanks to his pooch named after faithful Japanese pup Hachiko.
A smart and devoted Sounders fan nicknamed "Bread" came up with the name "Jorstian Mordan" for this pair, a portmanteau that's even now used by US Soccer. Anyways, they're legitimately best friends, so it's no surprise they took home this category.
Family Matters: Matt Besler, Sporting Kansas City
Sporting Kansas City star Besler had a big year, releasing an autobiography – and also adding to his own life story with the birth of a very cute first child. His baby photos helped launch him to the top of this category.
