Montreal Impact defender Laurent Ciman suffers foot injury in training

Laurent Ciman - Montreal Impact - Points while embracing

Since the start of the 2015 season, there's arguably not been a more important player for the Montreal Impact than Laurent Ciman.

That's why it is so concerning that the Belgian defender went down with an ankle injury at training on Thursday morning. It is unclear how serious the injury is, but when reached on Friday morning an Impact spokesman said that Ciman was "walking on his own feet" and is day-to-day.

Ciman took home 2015 Defender of the Year honors, helping the Impact concede 14 fewer goals in 2015 than they did the previous year. Luckily for Ciman and the Impact, the team will not be taking the field again until April 2, when they travel to Seattle.

If Ciman were forced to miss the match, Mauro Biello would most likely turn to four-year MLS veteran Wandrille Lefevre.
