TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan

The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday the acquisition of Canada international and Quebecois right back Zachary Brault-Guillard on loan from French side Olympique Lyonnais for the 2019 season. Having already spent time with IMFC in preseason on a trial basis, he will join the club upon receiving his international transfer certificate and passing his physical.

"Zachary will reinforce the Impact's defensive unit. He's a young Franco-Quebecois who grew up humanly and sportingly within Olympique Lyonnais' youth teams," said Impact head coach Remi Garde in a statement. "He's a defensive fullback who has potential to progress through daily contact with the Impact's other professional players. I would like to welcome him to the club."

Brault-Guillard, 20, captained Lyonā€™s reserve team since August 2018, in the Championnat national 2, after signing his first professional first team contract with the Ligue 1 side in May. He also wore the captain's armband while playing with the clubā€™s Under-19 team. He started five games in the 2016 UEFA Youth League, with OL facing Juventus, Sevilla and Dinamo Zagreb in the U-19 tournament.

Born in Haiti and adopted by a Quebecois and French couple, Brault-Guillard was raised in Montreal until the age of seven before moving to France. He spent time with youth clubs Lagnieu and Ain Sud, in the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region, before entering the Olympique Lyonnais academy with the U-13 team.

A past member of Canadaā€™s Under-20 setup, Brault-Guillard made his senior debut for Les Rouges last year against Dominica in a Concacaf Nations League qualifying game and has earned two caps to date.
