The MLS Disciplinary Committee has fined D.C. United midfielder Lloyd Sam and Philadelphia Union left back Fabinho for actions taken in Week 19 of the MLS season, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Sam makes contact with Tchaniā€™s face

The Committee ruled that Lloyd Sam violated the leagueā€™s policy regarding hands to the face/head/neck of an opponent when he made contact with Columbus Crew SC midfielder Tony Tchaniā€™s face and neck in the 42nd minute of D.C.ā€™s 1-1 draw at Crew SC on Saturday. Sam will be issued an undisclosed fine for the action.

Fabinho simulation

The committee ruled that Philadelphia Union defender Fabinho was guilty of simulation in the fourth minute of the Unionā€™s 2-2 draw against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. The Brazilian fullback went down after appearing to make contact with New York defender Sal Zizzo, who was whistled for a foul on the play. Like Sam, Fabinho will be issued an undisclosed fine for the action.
