MetroStars to televise four games in Spanish in 2005 on Fox Sports New York

SECAUCUS, N.J. - The MetroStars and the Madison Square Garden (MSG) Network announced today that in addition to their English broadcasts, they will broadcast four games in Spanish this season on Fox Sports New York.

The following games are included in the broadcasts:

July 23 - MetroStars @ San Jose - 10:00 p.m. ET

August 6 - MetroStars @ FC Dallas - 8:30 p.m. ET

August 10 - MetroStars @ D.C. United - 7:30 p.m. ET

August 21 - MetroStars vs. Chivas USA - 6:00 p.m. ET

"The MetroStars are very grateful for the support that they have received from the Hispanic fans and as a result we are thrilled to be broadcasting these games in Spanish," said MetroStars President and General Manager Alexi Lalas. "These games will surely strengthen our presence and reaffirm our commitment to the Hispanic community."

For the fourth consecutive year, Ernesto Motta and Robert Sierra will handle the Spanish broadcasting (television) duties for the MetroStars. Motta and Sierra have been broadcasting (radio) in Major League Soccer since the league's inception, ten years ago. Recently Motta's role has increased, as for the past three years, he has been the SAP voice for ABC's broadcast of the MLS All-Star Game and MLS Cup.

In conjunction with this announcement, the MetroStars and MSG Network have also announced that the commercial inventory for the Spanish broadcasts is close to being sold out.

"This is a great opportunity for MetroStars fans as well as MSG Network," said, Leon Schweir, executive producer, MSG Network. "This was a big success for us last year and it is only natural that we continue to provide a full-fledged production in Spanish to this growing market."

These games will also still be broadcast in Spanish on WADO 1280 AM. Mario Concha and Wilfredo Campos will handle the broadcasting duties on WADO for these games.
