Los Angeles Galaxy to host New York Red Bulls in final U.S. Open Cup play-in game

CARSON, Calif. - The Los Angeles Galaxy will host the New York Red Bulls in a second and final Open Cup Play-In Game at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8 at The Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The winner of this match will enter the 2007 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, along with seven other MLS clubs, in the Third Round of this tournament.

The Galaxy qualified for this game by defeating the Columbus Crew 1-0 behind a Nate Jaqua goal on Tuesday night in an Open Cup Play-In Game in Columbus.

Los Angeles and New York have never met in the U.S. Open Cup and both teams have matching 12-12-3 records in the all-time regular season series. The Red Bulls currently sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 2-0-1 record and are led by former U.S. National Team captain Claudio Reyna and goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus who marshals a Red Bull defense that has not conceded a goal all season long. The club is also soon to be bolstered by the recent signing of Colombian forward Juan Pablo Angel.

The game is included as part of the 2007 Galaxy full season ticket package. Season ticket holders should use their "Bonus Game 3" tickets to gain entry to the match. Individual tickets for the game will go on-sale today at 10 a.m. through the Galaxy offices at 877-3GALAXY, online at www.lagalaxy.com and all Ticketmaster outlets.
