LA Galaxy trade MF Harmse to Toronto FC

CARSON, Calif. - The LA Galaxy today traded midfielder Kevin Harmse to Toronto FC in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. The 23-year old Canadian international spent one season in Los Angeles, appearing in 23 matches in all competitions and scoring twice.

In his first year with the Galaxy in 2007, Harmse appeared in 17 regular season games, making 13 starts and scoring one goal. He officially signed with the club on April 12 and made his debut that evening against FC Dallas. He scored his only league goal in his next MLS appearance, scoring the game-winning goal in the 3-1 win over Chivas USA in the Honda SuperClasico. Harmse, who has six caps for Canada, also appeared in four SuperLiga matches, scoring once in the 6-5 win at FC Dallas, as well as two U.S. Open Cup games for the Galaxy.

The Galaxy now have five picks in the 2009 SuperDraft. The club has their natural selections in the first, third and fourth rounds, as well as a second round pick acquired from Chivas USA last season and the fourth round selection acquired from Toronto FC today. In January the Galaxy sent their natural second round selection to FC Dallas as part of the trade that brought Carlos Ruiz back to the Galaxy.
