Houston Dynamo defender DaMarcus Beasley will be sidelined due to a knee injury and upcoming surgery, the club announced Monday.

Beasley will have surgery to "remove loose bodies in his left knee," according to the club, which Beasley termed "torn cartilage" in his knee in an Instagram post on Monday. The club's statement included no specific timetable on the veteran's return.

The 34-year-old was forced out of Friday's 0-0 draw against Orlando City in the second half due to the injury. He has featured in all but one of Houston's league matches so far this season.
