Houston Dynamo 1, Minnesota United FC 0 | US Open Cup 2018 Recap

The Houston Dynamo reached the quarterfinal round of the U.S. Open Cup for the third time in four years after defeating Minnesota United FC 1-0 on Monday in the Round of 16.

Mauro Manotas scored the winning goal just after the restart, as he headed in Adam Lundqvist's corner kick for the Dynamo. Minnesota sought to knot up the match, and received a lifeline in the dying minutes, as Lundqvist conceded a penalty for a push on Miguel Ibarra in Houston's box. But Darwin Quintero's penalty attempt clanged off the post, and the Dynamo held on at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The Dynamo will host Sporting Kansas City in the USOC quarterfinals next month.
