Frank Lampard - New York City FC - Hands on Head Bummed

Update

10:32 p.m. ET—While there remained no firm update on Lampard's status, NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira – while acknowledging he had yet to speak with the player or team doctor – had this to say during the postgame presser:

"[Frank] is a sensible professional and he knows his body better than anybody else. If he came out, it’s because he didn’t want to make it worse. Hopefully he will recover and be ready for the next game on Friday."

In the 42nd minute of Saturday's match between New York City FC and Supporters' Shield leader FC Dallas at Yankee Stadium, the home fans received a scare when midfielder Frank Lampard exited the game after going down and stretching his left calf. A strain to that same muscle kept him out for the first 2 1/2 months this year.

Lampard's return to action has played a key part in New York City's ascension to the top of the Eastern Conference. The longtime Chelsea man has put up 12 goals in 17 games (14 starts) on just 32 shots, including a memorable hat trick -- NYCFC's first -- against then league-leader Colorado on July 30.
