Twitter Stories: World Cup Final
FIFA Women's World Cup sets new Twitter record - Twitter Stories

On July 17, the FIFA Women’s World Cup set a new record for number of tweets sent per second. The final between the US and Japan set the new all-time high with 7,196 tweets per second during the penalty kick shootout, which saw the Japanese take their first World Cup title.

Most of MLS was stateside cheering the US on, and we were able to participate in a small way by tweeting alongside the masses.

Interestingly, the Women’s World Cup Final far outpaced the most-tweeted match in the 2010 Men’s World Cup, where 3,283 tweets were sent per second when Japan beat Denmark.
