FIFA issue provisional ban to ex-CONCACAF general secretary Chuck Blazer pending investigation

CONCACAF general secretary Chuck Blazer.

Former CONCACAF general secretary, American Chuck Blazer, was provisionally banned by FIFA on Monday afternoon in light of alleged breaches of the body's code of ethics that "appear to have been committed," according to a FIFA statement.

The ban, which prevents Blazer from taking part in any kind of soccer activity at the national and international level, is in effect for a period of 90 days.

The action comes a few weeks after the release of the final report from the CONCACAF Integrity Committee published on April 18.

CONCACAF passed along its findings of "serious alleged misconduct" to FIFA and it was the FIFA Ethics Committee that made the decision to ban Blazer pending the conclusion of its investigation.
