FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas announced today that forward Abe Thompson was diagnosed with a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his left foot, which will keep him out of action for the next 5-6 weeks. The second-year forward suffered the injury in the first half of the Reserve Division match which FC Dallas won 3-0 over the Houston Dynamo Reserves on Saturday, May 13 at Pizza Hut Park. Despite the injury, Thompson played all 90 minutes and scored a penalty kick goal late in the game to give his squad their first Reserve Division victory of the season.
Thompson's lone appearance in 2006 came as a second-half substitute against the Colorado Rapids on April 15. Last year, Thompson played in 18 regular season games, starting six of those games. The University of Maryland graduate scored four goals in that time to finish sixth on the team in scoring. He also led the Hoops in Reserve Division goals with five in nine games.
FC Dallas will look to extend their 10-game home undefeated streak on Saturday, May 20 when the New England Revolution comes to Pizza Hut Park for a 7:30 p.m. (CT) kickoff.
