FCD eye midweek game to help ease woes over latest loss

Daniel Hernandez

The road has certainly not been friendly this season to FC Dallas.

The club remained winless in three games away from home after Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Vancouver, dropping Dallas to fifth overall in the Western Conference. The struggles away from home have head coach Schellas Hyndman frustrated and searching for answers.

“A big part of it is the ball not going in the net as often as it does for them [the opponent],” Hyndman said.

Veteran midfielder Daniel Hernandez agreed and thought FC Dallas were the better team on Saturday, but failed to execute when opportunities presented themselves.

“It’s a tough place to play, but I thought all-in-all we really dominated the game. I think they had one shot on goal in the first half and one in the second half,” Hernandez said. “Unfortunately, we gave up the goal in the first half early, and just couldn’t come back. We had several opportunities to score goals, it just didn’t drop for us.”

With another game looming on Wednesday [back at home against Real Salt Lake], Hernandez knows FC Dallas will need to get focused mentally in order to bounce back. Playing at home should boost the overall team morale and give FC Dallas some much needed energy.

“We’re getting 100 percent effort from all the guys, and hopefully we get the ball to bounce our way come Wednesday against Salt Lake,” he said.

Said midfielder Break Shea, one of the bright spots on Saturday:  “We played well, we competed hard, we just have to learn from it and get a good start right from the very beginning.”
