FC Dallas have acquired Honduran international midfielder Bryan Acosta from Spanish side Tenerife, the club announced Tuesday. Acosta will be added to the roster as a Designated Player and Spanish media reported last week that the transfer fee would be $3.2 million.

Acosta, 25, moved to Tenerife in 2017, where he has made 47 appearances across two seasons for the second-division side. He scored 5 goals and added 6 assists and the club currently precariously sit 16th in the 22-team Segunda Division this season.

“Acosta is a player we’ve had our eye on for some time,” said FCD President Dan Hunt in a media release. “This is a player whose ceiling is incredibly high in the central midfield and with a lot of international experience under his belt at just 25 years old, he’ll bring an immediate impact to our club in 2019.”

He also has 33 caps with the Honduran national team.

Acosta's addition continues FCD's busy offseason. The club have undergone a coaching change, a front office shakeup as well as moving on from a number of key first-teamers – Roland Lamah, Maxi Urruti, Victor Ulloa and Tesho Akindele – while signing striker Zdenek Ondrasek and defender Bressan.
