FC Dallas forward Blas Perez earns Week 27's MLS Player of the Week

Blas Perez could have just left it to his wonder-goal to do the talking, but he added to it and became the easy winner of the MLS Player of the Week vote as a result.

Perez was selected as Week 27's top performer by the North American Soccer Reporters on Monday for his impressive brace in FC Dallas' 2-1 win vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. The veteran striker ran away with the honor by collecting nine first-place votes, well ahead of runner-ups Dom Dwyer and Lee Nguyen, who earned two votes each.

The Panamanian joined rookie Tesho Akindele as Dallas players to earn the accolade this season. Perez first scored in the Western Conference bout at Toyota Stadium with a stunning and perhaps unintentional strike from a tight angle on the right, before punishing the Whitecaps in the 78th minute with a winner that gave him his first multi-goal game of the 2014 season.

Perez became the eighth consectuive Western Conference player to win the award.
