Substitute Anthony Blondell pressured FC Dallas into an own goal in the 82nd minute, and drew a penalty that Kei Kamara converted deep into stoppage time, as Vancouver Whitecaps FC clawed back from a two-goal deficit to draw, 2-2, against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Frisco on a hot Saturday afternoon.
Reggie Cannon, a Homegrown player growing into his starting right-back role, scored his first MLS goal in the 40th minute, in a first half with only three shots on goal, all from FC Dallas. In the 78th minute, Maximiliano Urruti scored what looked to be a late-game insurance goal that would secure the win.
But the Whitecaps had other ideas. Blondell's attempt on goal just moments after the Urruti goal led to a Maynor Figueroa own-goal to close the margin. Then, in the 7th minute of stoppage time, FC Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer was ruled to foul Blondell following a shot on goal, and Kamara's PK shot bounced off Maurer's gloves, over the line, and into the net to close out the match.

Three Things
- THE BIG PICTURE: While it wasn't last year's 4-0 win in Frisco, Vancouver's draw continues their recent run of results in Texas, and puts them back in playoff position in a Western Conference where every point looks to be at a premium. FC Dallas is still just above them in the table, though they can't be happy about settling for a draw when they looked to be cruising to a win.
- MOMENT OF THE MATCH: Any time the referee awards a penalty kick as the final play of the match, it's got to be that. The call came so late in the match, in fact, that it tied a record:
The equalizing penalty kick by Kei Kamara of @WhitecapsFC vs @FCDallas in the 100th minute matched the latest goal scored in a regulation match in #MLS history

(also: Dominic Oduro, 9/25/10, HOU 1 at DC 3; Kaká (pen), 6/25/16, ORL 3 vs TOR 2) - MAN OF THE MATCH: Blondell was about as much of an impact sub as coach Carl Robinson could have hoped for. Coming on for Brek Shea with just over 20 minutes left in regulation, the Venezuelan international created — in unconventional but effective fashion — both Whitecaps goals.
