Jay Heaps - July 22, 2017 - New England Revolution

Former New England Revolution head coach Jay Heaps has landed on his feet, announcing on Wednesday that he’s accepted a position as president and general manager of 2019 USL expansion team Birmingham Legion FC.

Heaps, 41, was fired as New England head coach last September. He managed the Revs for nearly six full seasons, leading the club to an appearance at MLS Cup 2014 but missing the playoffs in 2016 and 2017. He spent 11 seasons as an MLS player, the last nine with New England.

Birmingham will play the 2018 season in the PDL as the Birmingham Hammers before moving to USL and transitioning to Birmingham Legion in 2019.
