Dynamo partners with church

For the Houston Dynamo and Major League Soccer, a first. From a First.

The Dynamo has entered into a sponsorship agreement with Houston's First Baptist Church, an institution in the city for more than 165 years. This marks the first time an MLS team has been sponsored by a church. The agreement means First Baptist will participate in the popular Dynamo interactive attraction "Soccer Fest" at games at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium, and will be prominently featured in stadium signage and in Dynamo publications.

"To illustrate that we are an active and relevant member of the Houston community, we wanted to be part of something big and we know the Dynamo is a great partner," said Pastor Gregg Matte, senior pastor at Houston's First Baptist Church.

Full-page advertising in FREEKICK and other Dynamo publications will feature the following slogan: "What's black and white and loved by billions? Soccer, God's Word, or all of the above."

"This is monumental for Major League Soccer," said Dynamo Director of Sponsorship Sales Bryan Kraham. "Our audience falls in line with exactly who the church caters to. We're providing a family-oriented sport to First Baptist's audience."
