Dunivant facing long absence

Toronto FC defender Todd Dunivant may not play again during the 2008 regular season.

Toronto FC coach John Carver admits defender Todd Dunivant is unlikely to play again this season. Dunivant had surgery on a fractured ankle last week and is being allowed to return home to Colorado to recover.

He's going to be out for a while now and I would be very surprised if he plays again this season," said Carver. "We're going to allow him to go home and have a rest back at home in Colorado. We're going to link up with Colorado so that if there are any issues when he is home, their medical guys will hopefully look after him. We just felt it was best to let him go home and then come back here when he's ready to start his rehabilitation."

Carver admits he may now need to strengthen the squad to bring in cover at left back. "I've got to look at the situation because it leaves us short at left back. We were interested in Jon Harley (ex Chelsea and Burnley) but he's now signed for Watford."
