Commissioner Garber reduces Franchino suspension

The Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber today reduced the suspension handed down to New England Revolution defender Joe Franchino on Tuesday from two games to one game. The one game suspension will be served tonight when the Revolution hosts the Los Angeles Galaxy at Gillette Stadium.

On Tuesday, July 26, the MLS Disciplinary Committee suspended Franchino for two games and fined him $500 for a serious foul play in the 87th minute against Chivas USA midfielder Hector Cuadros in the Revs 1-0 loss on Friday, July 22 at The Home Depot Center. Franchino was cautioned on the play in which he fouled Cuadros from behind with both arms raised near Cuadros' head.

Franchino, his agent Paul Mordarski, and MLS Player's Union representative Jon Newman participated in the appeal with Commissioner Garber which was held via teleconference on Tuesday afternoon.
