Two Eastern Conference foes streaking in opposite directions meet at MAPFRE Stadium Saturday night when struggling Crew SC host in-form New York City FC.
Columbus (5-9-1) have lost eight of their last nine games, including the last three following a 3-2 defeat to the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Pedro Santos and Gyasi Zardes scored equalizing goals, but Nicolas Mezquida scored the late winner to lift the Rapids.
NYCFC (4-1-7) are one of just two MLS teams with one defeat entering Week 14 — Supporters’ Shield leaders LAFC are the other — and the Cityzens stretched an MLS-best unbeaten streak to eight games with a 1-1 draw at Chicago, their league-leading seventh of the season. Alexandru Mitrita returned to the starting lineup and provided the equalizer late in the first half after CJ Sapong struck for his fifth of the year.
