Colorado Rapids Homegrown Cole Bassett is headed to London to spend a week training with Arsenal FC’s Under-23 squad, the Denver Post reported on Monday.

It’s the second straight winter European training stint for the talented teenager, who spent time at Bundesliga side Freiburg a year ago, and he sounds eager to use the experience to develop the finer points of his game. The midfielder was linked with a possible move to Freiburg earlier this year.

“When Arsenal came over here and played us [in an international friendly in July], you could see there are little things that they do that I just don’t quite have yet,” Bassett told the Post. “I’m eager to learn from them. Picking up things from every player will help improve my game. It’s going to be a great learning experience.”

Bassett, 18, signed his Homegrown deal in August 2018 and has since made 26 MLS appearances (17 starts) for the Mile High Club, scoring three goals and two assists.

He’s the latest young MLSer to venture across the pond for a training visit, following the likes of four FC Dallas Homegrowns who are training with Bayern Munich, and FC Cincinnati goalkeeper Spencer Richey, who visited Crystal Palace earlier this fall.
