Christian Pulisic diagnosed with right quadriceps injury after US-Chile

An injury to star playmaker Christian Pulisic cast a cloud over the US national team's hard-fought 1-1 draw with Chile on Tuesday, as the Pennsylvanian had to limp off after just 35 minutes with what U.S. Soccer Federation officials are describing as a right quadriceps injury.

Pulisic ran onto a smart pass from Gyasi Zardes to open the scoring in the fourth minute. But he pulled up limping after a run into the Chile penalty box half an hour later, and made way for Sebastian Lletget as coach Gregg Berhalter and his staff took no chances with their No. 10 in what was described as a "precautionary" move.

While early reports suggest that it's not a serious problem, it's the latest in a sequence of frustrating injuries for the 20-year-old, and puts Pulisic's status in doubt for his club Borussia Dortmund's stretch run in Bundesliga action this spring, where BVB are presently deadlocked with Bayern Munich atop the standings.
