Chilean striker Felipe Flores training with Dallas, no contract in place

Felipe Flores - with Colo Colo

FC Dallas may be adding to their sizeable and influential South American contingent, but don't expect a move to come any time soon.

Media reports out of Chile have drawn attention to the arrival of free-agent striker Felipe Flores in Frisco this week, suggesting that the Western Conference leaders are still looking to improve their squad even as they march towards the 2016 MLS Supporters' Shield and the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

Though Chile's La Tercera claimed on Thursday that Flores has already inked a two-year contract, FCD officials subsequently clarified to FutbolMLS.com that the 29-year-old Chilean was simply training with the MLS frontrunners and that any reports of a done deal were pure speculation.

It would be too late for Flores to take part in 2016 MLS action anyway, as rosters were frozen last week, with Dallas having filled all 28 of their available roster spots.

A well-traveled veteran who has spent most of his career at various clubs in his own country in addition to a few stints in Mexico, Flores came to prominence with Chilean powerhouse Colo Colo a decade ago. He has a handful of youth and senior national-team caps for Chile and most recently played for Liga MX side Club Tijuana.
