Castrol Weekly Top 20: No debate on the best team in MLS

There's a debate going on in MLS circles of late: Which is the best team in MLS?

Well, at least for this week there's little debate based on the weekly Castrol Top 20 rankings with the defending MLS Cup champions LA Galaxy owning four of the top five spots. Only New York's Markus Holgersson broke the Galaxy hegemony.

But that's not to say that the rest of the Western Conference can't be somewhat encouraged. There's a renewed Brek Shea coming in at No. 10 for FC Dallas, Seattle Sounders newcomer Christian Tiffert figuring at No. 13 and San Jose's contribution of two players on their march toward the Supporters' Shield (Steven Lenhart at No. 9 and Marvin Chávez at No. 14).

However, Portland Timbers fans may be disappointed to see that goalkeeper Troy Perkins broke into the Top 10 in his first appearance with Montreal since the trade that took him to the Impact. Meanwhile, the Timbers were idle in Week 23.

Lastly, a tip of the cap to D.C. United rookie Nick DeLeon, who seems to have regained his early season form.
