Atlanta United's Mo Adams undergoes successful sports hernia surgery, out for 4-6 weeks

Mo Adams tight shot with Atlanta

Atlanta United midfielder Mo Adams had successful sports hernia surgery Tuesday night and is expected to be sidelined for about four-to-six weeks, the club announced.

Adams tweeted a picture of himself post-surgery with a thumbs up, writing “can’t wait to attack my rehab and get back out there soon,” while revealing it was an injury he’s been dealing with “for some time.”

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder, who came up through the youth ranks at Nottingham Forest, is entering his fifth MLS season. After being selected 10th overall by Chicago Fire FC in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Adams was traded to Atlanta midway through the 2019 season. He’s made 17 regular-season appearances for the Five Stripes, including 10 starts, and scored his first MLS goal for the club in 2019.
