Mercedes-Benz Stadium - Atlanta United - field-level shot of crowd, roof

It's been a common occurrence over the past 16 months, and on Wednesday, Atlanta United did it again, setting yet another attendance record.

This time it was the U.S. Open Cup record that went down, as 41,012 tickets were sold and distributed for the Five Stripes' Round of 16 match against the Chicago Fire. The previous record was held by the Seattle Sounders, who had 35,615 fans for the 2011 final at CenturyLink Field. The Sounders beat the Fire that night to capture their third-straight Open Cup title.

Atlanta hold the single-season attendance record, as they averaged 48,200 fans over their 17 regular-season matches in 2017. They also hold the single-game attendance record, as 72,035 people were at their home opener this season against D.C. United.
