Ali Adnan opens account with stunner, departs before half with groin injury

Aside from that one failed panenka, Whitecaps left back Ali Adnan has been one of the best players in his position this season.

And in Week 13 he pulled off what few fullbacks -- left or right -- around the world could.

After coming close to his opening MLS tally several times in the first three months of his MLS career, the on-loan Adnan finally got it in stylish fashion in the 30th minute against FC Dallas.

After slicing between two Dallas defenders, Adnan curled a right-footed effort beyond the sprawling goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

However, Adnan was forced to depart the match in the 42nd minute with a groin injury, according to TSN's broadcast. He was replaced by PC, and although Dallas cut the deficit with a late goal the Whitecaps held on for the 2-1 win and all three points.

Coach Marc Dos Santos also told the broadcast in his interview shortly before the second half began that he didn't expect the injury to be serious.

Before Adnan's exit, he had played every minute of Vancouver's stretch of five matches in 16 days. His loan from Serie A side Udinese runs through the end of June.
