Seattle Sounders' star Jordan Morris undergoes successful knee surgery

Jordan Morris - Seattle Sounders - tight shot

Seattle Sounders' star Jordan Morris has undergone successful surgery on his left knee, the club announced Thursday.

Morris tore his ACL on the knee while on loan in the English Championship with Swansea City during their match against Huddersfield Town on Feb. 20. It's the second major knee injury of the 26-year-old homegrown product's career, after he missed the whole MLS season in 2018 after tearing the ACL in his right knee in Concacaf Champions League play.

The procedure was performed on Wednesday in Santa Monica, California, with Morris set to begin rehabilitation immediately following the procedure.

Morris was coming off a Best XI season for Seattle in 2020 that saw him score 10 goals and dish out eight assists in 1,724 minutes while helping the Sounders to their fourth MLS Cup final appearance in five years. For his MLS career, Morris has scored 35 goals and racked up 20 assists while emerging as one of the league's most complete attacking threats.

He was loaned to Swansea City in January, his first venture overseas after signing with the Sounders as a homegrown player out of Stanford University ahead of the 2016 season.
