Toronto FC pause preseason training after multiple members of team delegation test positive for COVID-19

Multiple members of Toronto FC's team delegation have tested positive for COVID-19, with club personnel currently isolating and preseason training halted, the club announced Monday.

The positive cases arose from mandatory preseason testing and the club has conducted follow-up testing. The club said it would continue to follow, and strictly enforce, all health and safety protocols and is working with Toronto Public Health to ensure the players return to training as soon as is safely possible. Further updates will be made available later in the week.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing border restrictions between the United States and Canada, Toronto FC announced last week that they would begin the 2021 MLS season in Florida and could play home games in both Orlando and Tampa.
