The Philadelphia Union have re-signed goalkeeper Joe Bendik, the club announced Friday.

Bendik, 31, has spent the last season and a half with Philly, making two appearances. He has made 178 appearances in his MLS career, including stints as the starter with Toronto FC and Orlando City SC.

“We are excited to welcome back Joe for the 2021 season,” sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a club statement. “He works extremely hard on the field, and off the field he takes the time to mentor and work with his younger teammates. He has more than eight years of professional experience in this league and his veteran presence has proven helpful not only to our other goalkeepers, but to the team success as a whole.”

Bendik becomes the third goalkeeper on Philly's roster, behind starter Andre Blake and US youth international Matt Freese.
