It will mark Garcia's tenth season with Houston, making him the third field player in club history to reach that mark joining Ricardo Clark and Brad Davis.
“Boniek is a consummate professional, a player who brings a strong mentality on and off the field every day, and a club legend,” Houston general manager Matt Jordan said in Monday's release. “We are very pleased that Boniek will be returning to the Dynamo for his 10th season with the club.”
Garcia, 36, first joined Houston from Honduran side Club Olimpia in 2012 and has been a fixture for the club since then, making 219 league appearances with 174 starts. The versatile two-way midfielder has scored 13 goals and dished out 39 assists across 15,975 minutes. He made 18 appearances and started seven matches for Houston in 2020.
Along with Dynamo teammate Maynor Figueroa, Garcia has also been a regular for the Honduras national team, with 126 senior caps since making his debut in 2005.
