The Colorado Rapids remain in negotiations with Liga MX side Club Leon to bring back goalkeeper William Yarbrough, per a report from SB Nation website Burgundy Wave.

Yarbrough, who will turn 32 ahead of the 2021 MLS season, was signed last March on loan from Club Leon, giving the Rapids a starter after Tim Howard retired. He made 14 appearances during the 2020 season, helping Colorado earn the Western Conferenceā€™s No. 5 seed in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

Yarbrough originally turned pro in 2010 with Pachuca, then moved to Club Leon and became their No. 1 option in net. Heā€™s made over 200 appearances across all competitions for Club Leon, helping the club win two Liga MX titles. Yarbrough has earned three US menā€™s national team caps as well, though hasnā€™t featured since an October 2016 friendly against New Zealand.

Without Yarbrough, the Rapids would likely slot MLS veteran Clint Irwin into the starting role. They also have Andre Rawls, who entered the league in 2016 after initially being drafted by New York City FC a year prior, as well as homegrown Abraham Rodriguez
