TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

One of the most exciting young players in MLS is set for a move overseas, according to a Monday report from The Athletic relaying that New York Red Bulls homegrown midfielder Caden Clark will head to RB Leipzig in a transfer would take place after the 2021 season.

Per reporting from Paul Tenorio, Jeff Rueter and Sam Stejskal, the Red Bulls are finalizing a deal that would send Clark to the Bundesliga side after the completion of the upcoming MLS season. FIFA regulations mean the move will have to wait until 2022 because Clark is not yet 18 and does not have an EU passport.

The development is the continuation of Clark's rise to one of the league's brightest young talents. The young attacker burst onto the MLS scene last season, scoring goals in each of his first two regular-season games and in his postseason debut in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs.

A move to RB Leipzig would put Clark with the same club as another Red Bulls product in Tyler Adams, who was sold to Leipzig in 2018, becoming a key contributor for the club and breaking in as a fixture for the US men's national team.
