TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
The 32-year-old attacking midfielder, who captains Serie A squad Atalanta, had an offer from FC Cincinnati that would have paid him nearly $10 million a year, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, but Gomez reportedly is hoping to remain in Europe. However, the same report said Atalanta and Sevilla are still a ways off in negotiations.
Inter Milan have also been linked with Gomez, who has five goals and four assists in 16 matches across all competitions this season for Atalanta, which he joined in 2014 from Metalist Kharkiv in the Ukraine.
Gomez has been capped five times by the Argentine national team, including a substitute performance against Peru in World Cup qualifying in November, his first appearance in three years.
