Nashville loan center back Miguel Nazarit to Independiente Santa Fe for 2021 season

Nashville SC have sent center back Miguel Nazarit on a one-year loan to Colombian first-division side Independiente Santa Fe, the MLS club announced Friday.

Nazarit didn’t feature for Nashville during the 2020 season as the then-expansion club advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Rather, he was kept in reserve to the center-back duo of Walker Zimmerman and David Romney, with Zimmerman named the 2020 MLS Defender of the Year.

Nazarit, 23, was signed by Nashville via Targeted Allocation Money in December 2019. He joined from Colombian side Once Caldas, where he enjoyed a consistent role from 2017 until his stateside move. Nazarit has also featured for Colombia’s U-23 national team.

As Nazarit seeks playing time back in Colombia, Nashville's other center-back depth arrives via Jack Maher and Jalil Anibaba. Maher was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, while Anibaba is entering his 11th year in MLS.
