TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
The LA Galaxy have signed defender Jalen Neal to a first team contract, the club announced Wednesday.
Neal, 17, made 13 appearances for LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship last season. He has spent time in multiple defensive positions and is a US youth international.
“Jalen is a talented defender who has shown his capability at the professional level last season with LA Galaxy II,” GM Dennis te Kloese said in a club statement. “We are excited that he will become another player on our first-team roster that has come through our developmental system. We look forward to Jalen continuing to learn and grow with our club.”
Neal is the club's second addition from Los Dos this week, after the Galaxy signed Adam Saldana to a first-team contract on Tuesday.
Earlier this offseason, Greg Vanney took over as LA Galaxy head coach while the club signed goalkeeper Jonathan Bond and re-signed Jonathan Klinsmann. They also acquired Jorge Villafana from the Portland Timbers.
