One of the biggest names linked to MLS this offseason has surfaced in the form of World Cup-winning German forward Lukas Podolski, with FC Cincinnati one of two MLS teams interested in acquiring his services according to a Friday report from German publication Bild.

Podolski is currently playing for Turkish side Antalyaspor, where he's under contract through the summer and then would be available on a free transfer. He currently leads the team with three goals, but is sidelined with an injury.

Podolski is 35 years old now, but he would bring plenty of pedigree should he eventually come to the league as the third most-capped player in the history of Germany's national team. He's suited up 130 times for his country, scoring 49 goals and winning the 2014 World Cup.

It could be a good fit for a Cincinnati side that has struggled mightily to put the ball in the net through its first two years in MLS, scoring just 12 goals in 23 games in 2020, which was easily the lowest total in the league. Cincinnati's strikers currently on the roster are Jurgen Locadia, Franko Kovacevic and Brandon Vazquez.
