Waston, 33, started 17 of Cincy's 23 games in 2020. He was acquired from Vancouver ahead of their expansion season for $750,000 in allocation money, the second-highest mark for a defender in league history at the time.
All in all, Waston made 157 MLS appearances after arriving in Vancouver during the summer of 2014. He was a two-time MLS Best XI selection (2015, 2017).
Waston is a regular with the Costa Rican national team and featured for the country at the 2018 World Cup.
